d a y t o n a is abstract hypnagogic pop, sprinkled with an even broader mix of musical concepts than I’ve done before. A fusion inspired by the muzak of The Sims and the high energy sounds of Sega Saturn games like DAYTONA USA and Virtua Fighter, sounds embedded as a teenager late 90s early 2000s, and more recently ‘bad’ 2010s 3D animations that I find beautiful. It sounds somewhere in between Utopian Virtual, Hyper Pop, IDM, Glitch. As with all my music, the chaotic relationship between the nuanced and naïve instruments takes precedence over adhering to any one codified formula. With this, I want to create an experience that’s both emotional and intellectual. The first full-length single from the album, gotta have it, was played recently on BBC radio in the UK.
